Dr Chris Williams is Emeritus Professor of Psychosocial Psychiatry and Honorary Consultant Psychiatrist at the University of Glasgow, Scotland, UK. His main clinical and research interest is in the evaluation of self-help approaches that provide wider access to cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) approaches. He has researched various written and computer-based self-help treatments for anxiety, depression, anorexia and bulimia and is President of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies – the lead body for CBT. He is a Director of Glasgow Institute of Psychosocial Interventions (GIPSI) – which has a focus on training and research in evidence-based psychosocial interventions. He is Patron of the charity Triumph over Phobia and also a Medical adviser and “Agony Uncle” to Anxiety UK. His research has focused on the evaluation of CBT and CBT self-help interventions in low mood, bulimia, anorexia, medically unexplained symptoms and with carers.
Dr Carol Brady is an organisational development practitioner, consultant clinical psychologist, accredited CBT Therapist, and former head of Psychological Therapies services. Carol was a member of the national expert reference group for IAPT, and set up a highly successful first wave IAPT service, latterly becoming an IAPT regional lead. She has trained and supervised CBT therapists and clinical psychologists and provided coaching for a range of NHS staff. Carol has also set up and run staff wellbeing services based on an IAPT model. Carol went on to become an Executive Director of Strategy before leaving the NHS to set up her own consultancy offering organisational development, coaching and psychological services.
